Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is convinced that the public authorities shall focus on people. "The talks concerning State-building shall be suspended to pay attention to every single person", - V.Lytvyn stated. He dwelled upon the human rights protection in Ukraine, visiting Ukrainian-Belgian enterprise "Vatra-Shreder" in Ternopil city.
"The topical issue is that the authorities are absolutely indifferent to the people, thus, the situation shall be altered", - the Head of the Parliament stressed. V.Lytvyn deems necessary to protect the citizens from arbitrariness of the officialdom, which is proved by the fact that "people are obliged to pay overwhelming tariffs for municipal services, and are deprived of the possibility of producing their own goods, being forced to consume the low-quality foreign ones".
As far as the priority areas of human rights protection were concerned, V.Lytvyn stated: "The right to work and decent labour remuneration, to well-provided old-age and adequate pension are of top priority". The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada believes that this list of priorities shall be supplemented with medical provision and education, as it is the basis of living standard in every civilized country.
The Head of the Parliament deems necessary to enhance responsibility of the judicial system for the resolutions adopted. "Since the judges carry out court proceedings on behalf of Ukraine, acting as State representatives, the burden of court mistakes and expenditures is imposed on the State, not a particular judge", - he stated.
"I am convinced that Ukrainian legislation shall be adjusted, as the court mistakes cost a small fortune to the State, and especially to the illegally convicted person", - the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated.
